Tyrone Pompei

August 15, 1958 – May 17, 2020.

On May 17, 2020, Ty Pompei, 61, of Bentleyville passed away peacefully at his home with his family after a year-long battle with cancer.

He was born on August 15, 1958 to the late Jerome and Dorothy Pompei.

He leaves behind his doting wife of 40 years, Lynn, and his daughters, Tammy and Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ty.

Ty graduated from Bentworth High School in 1976 and attended Rosedale Tech. He made a living at Pompei & Sons, where he wore many hats paving roads and doing mechanical work for over 40 years. Ty was hardworking and always provided for his family.

Ty was a man of few words but when he spoke, everyone listened. He had a kind heart and he was funny. Ty was known to tell a few dad jokes and there was nothing like seeing him laugh at his own joke. His laugh was big enough to fill the whole room.

Ty loved coffee and food and beer. His interests included NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers. To Ty, summertime was the best time, and nothing could compare to a hot summer day at home, tending to the pool and lawn. He enjoyed yardwork as much as any dad. Throughout his life, his favorite hobby was motorcycle riding and he owned several. He appreciated a new Harley-Davidson T-shirt from anywhere.

Over the last year, Ty only looked forward. He put on his boxing gloves and faced his stage IV diagnosis head-on. He did what needed to be done and never dwelt on setbacks. The strength Ty demonstrated was nothing less than impressive. He fought a valiant battle. In the end, he knew that his son, Ty, would be waiting for him with open arms. He will be missed dearly and will never be forgotten.

In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his siblings, Jerry Pompei and Barbara Schwartz.

A memorial service in celebration of Ty’s life will be announced at a later date. Because there will be no services at this time, the family encourages everyone to add memories or pictures to the tribute wall on the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home website, www.thompson-marodi.com

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bentleyville Public Library, 931 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 or a favorite charity of one’s choice.
