Vincent Quattro, 73, of Cokeburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
Vince was born on October 21, 1939 in Houston, a son of Mary Nakoneczny Quattro and the late Jack Quattro.
He lived in the Bentleyville and Cokeburg areas for his entire life.
In 1965, he married his life partner, Joanne (Mihalek) Quattro, and for more than forty-seven years they devoted their lives to building a loving home for their three children and grandchildren.
Vince graduated from Bentleyville High School in 1957 where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball.
In 1964, Vince graduated from California State College with a bachelor of science in Elementary Education and began his long career in the field of education.
Vince was a sixth grade math teacher in the Bentworth School District for thirty-four years and touched many lives of the students he taught. He also was a very successful coach of both boys basketball and girls softball at Bentworth High School winning many section titles. He coached two basketball teams to WPIAL runner-up positions. In 1979, Vince was awarded the Washington County Coach of the Year for his many achievements.
Vince is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Mihalek Quattro of Cokeburg; his mother, Mary Quattro of Bentleyville; two daughters, Jennifer Flynn (Patrick) of Scott Township and Janine Shirley (David) of Cranberry Township, PA; son, David Quattro (Danielle) of Deemston; his five grandchildren that he adored, Katie and Emily Flynn, Austin and Madison Shirley and Evan Quattro; his three step-grandchildren, Dillon Spencer, Dieon and Destinee Irey and brother, Gary Quattro of Hampton.
Vince joins his father, Jack Quattro, in heaven and will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 16 in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Catholic Daughter of the Americas.
