Virginia Brown Obituary

Virginia “Gigi” Silfies Brown, 88, of Washington, went to be with her Lord, Monday, February 16, 2015 at the McMurray Hills Manor, after a year and a half courageous battle with cancer.

She was born September 16, 1926 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, a daughter of Eugene Pearce Silfies and Cecelia Kuhn Silfies.

Virginia was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Fredericktown and attended Centerville High School

She worked for Albert Giles Grocery until her marriage to Matthew Brown, Jr, the love of her life, on November 28, 1970. He died December 27, 2009.

She will be missed for her kindness and gentle spirit. To know her was to love her.

Surviving are her best friend and sister, who was also her caregiver, Eve Wiltrout of Washington; the angels from Family Hospice of Mt Lebanon, Murph, Sharon and Mary; the wonderful friends at McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray; her beloved nieces, Gale Bogumit (Garry) and Edna Lee Silfies, all of Clarksville, Kim Michaels (Luther) of Oakland, Maryland; nephews, Eddie and Reggie Silfies of Clarksville, Kevin Stahl (Kim) of Oakland, Maryland and Kristen Stahl (Jeannie) of Accident, Maryland; two great-nephews; several great-great-nephews and nieces.

Deceased are two brothers, Chester and Reginald Silfies; a sister, Hilda Stahl and a nephew, Bruce Wiltrout.

The will be no visitation or services. Private burial in Beallsville Cemetery in care of Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 392 Ridgewood Drive, Fredericktown, PA 15333 or the City Mission, 84, West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
