William F. Heckler, Sr., 92, of Coal Center, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023.
He was born March 20, 1931, in Clover Hill, West Pike Run Township, a son of the late Hedwig Maslo Heckler and Frank Heckler.
William was a 1949 graduate of the Centerville High School and attended Penn Commercial in Washington.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a staff accountant for BethEnergy, Inc. with 39 years of service.
William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
He was a life-long member of the Grace Methodist Church of Coal Center, and enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, and above all, his family.
On November 9, 1957, he married the love of his life, Elaine Ruth Campbell, who passed away November 8, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Winkelvoss (Chris) of Bentleyville; a son, William Heckler, Jr. (Renee) of Belle Vernon; five grandchildren, Peter Pappas, Jr. of Vestaburg, Natalie McComb (George) of South Park, Mathew Heckler (Taylor) of Elizabeth, Nicole Pappas (Logan) of Bethel Park, and Kaytlin Heckler (Steve) of New Stanton; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan and Brianna, and McKenzie Pappas, Macie, Emma, and Gavin McComb; a sister, Esther King (Tom) of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visitation.
Friends are welcome to William’s graveside service at 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2023 at Maple Creek Cemetery, Route 481, Charleroi, with Pastor Ken Custer, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Grace Christian Education Center, 420 California Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423.
